Mothers Day Brunch

My Mother’s Day tradition is to host a single mom’s brunch at the house.  This year was no exception.  The new addition this year was that we celebrated two birthdays in addition to Mother’s Day so we had a birthday cake for dessert and afterward we all did an escape room down the street.  We got out, of course, with time to spare ;).

Time got a bit away from me this year but normally, I like to make each mom guest a little mason jar of scented bath salts.  The process is easy enough to do with the kids and it’s a cute little gift.  I like lavender as it is so relaxing and go for stress relief.

Lavender and mint bath salts

1 cup Epson salt

¼ cup baking soda

20 drops of lavender oil

10 drops of mint oil

Mix it all together and pour into a wide mouth mason jar.  Add ribbon or your choice of decoration.

For brunch, I kept the table simple with a linen tablecloth and a lovely spring, low floral arrangement.  Here’s our menu:

Shrimp cocktail

Potato, egg and avocado egg boats (recipe)

Fresh berries

French toast casserole

Spinach salad with blue cheese crumbles and candied pecans

Bagels and cream cheese

Chocolate birthday cake for dessert
